John M. Scott’s practice concentrates on complex commercial litigation and business matters, with the majority of his time currently devoted to litigation related to the development and construction of real estate projects. He has represented all interests in real estate projects, including borrowers, lenders, owners, developers, contractors and material and labor suppliers. Most recently, he has represented significant interests in several high profile commercial real estate projects. Mr. Scott also has represented clients in intellectual property disputes, unfair competition, breach of contract, personal injury and shareholder lawsuits. Mr. Scott represents numerous business clients in a broad range of matters, priding himself in providing insightful and practical business and legal advice. In 2006 Mr. Scott was selected by his peers for inclusion in two categories of Best Lawyers in
America:
construction law and commercial litigation. He lectures regularly on construction law topics, including the law of materialman’s liens. Mr. Scott obtained his law degree with high honors from the
University
of
Arkansas
at Little Rock School of Law, where he served as an associate editor on the Law Review. He then clerked for the Honorable G. Thomas Eisele, Senior
United States
District Judge for the Eastern District of Arkansas. Before entering law school, he graduated cum laude from
Baylor
University
with a B.B.A. in Accounting. Mr. Scott maintains an inactive Certified Public Accountant’s License. He is a member of the American and Arkansas Bar Association, is a member of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association, and is a Barrister in the William Putman Inns of Court.
